Solar Panels

Steps for installing solar panels:

  1. Review the Solar Policy.
  2. Select a contractor.
    • See notes about previous installer below.
  3. Submit an Architectural Change Request Form to help@caminodelprado.org:
    • Include the Solar Owner Responsibility Acknowledgement and Liability Form
    • Have your contractor prepare and include a solar site survey that shows the placement of the proposed System, depicts the usable area of the location in which the proposed System will be installed, and includes a determination of an equitable allocation of the usable solar area among all owners sharing the same roof, garage, or carport.
    • Notify all other owners of the building of the proposed installation (this is everyone whose units are attached together – even if your installation will only be on the garage).
  4. After your request is approved:
    • Prepare the Solar Agreement and coordinate with the HOA to get it signed and filed.
    • Provide the HOA with your homeowner liability coverage policy within 14 days.

Previous installers:

  • Your Energy Solutions: Successful installation at 1355R Sage Hen Way, as well as two other units in the community.
  • NOT RECOMMENDED: Sunrun. Sunrun incorrectly installed panels in the community, causing a costly roof repair. Another unit also used Sunrun, but after putting up the panels they later refused to install the electrical hookup.

(These steps are written out to help homeowners, but the official requirements are listed in the docs linked above.)
